Bexhill On Sea – East Sussex
This competition entry in South-East England attempted to transform the idea of shelter into a place of rest and contemplation. The manipulation of the traditional structural framework relates to the surrounding modern interventions found in the area while preserving the geometry typical of Edwardian and Victorian forms.
Acting as a recognisable beacon for the user of the promenade the spaces are designed to change throughout the day, utilising the area’s natural elements and location. The vertical members would form stretching shadows along the ground and allow the user to focus on the outstanding scenery whilst remaining protected from the sun, wind and rain.
